Spiritual Consideration

Brothers, in light of previous questions about the “voodoo” presence in Haiti, consider the blog post (linked below) of Pierre who is the Haitian that runs the orphanage in Port au Prince. Some of the statements may seem confusing; just remember that Kreyol (Creole: Ed) has no tenses, so Haitians tend to think and speak in present tense voice.
Many of the things stated may seem outlandish from our American point of view, but bear in mind that these are the consistent perspectives and statements of many Haitians I have spoken with in the last 3 years. Generally, we do not consider the spiritual world as being close and accessible as is the experience of the Haitians.
What I can tell you is that our kids definitely have the same sense of a nearness of the spiritual world as is defined in this blog. They do expect “the devil” to manifest himself as is stated here and they claim to have experienced demonic manifestations like this blog states. They also agree that people everywhere called out to Jesus during the earthquake, as Pierre claims in his dialogue here. From what I read here, many Haitians would agree with Pat Robertson – despite the political firestorm he has endured.
