Reminder.. There is no “right” to “not be offended”
December 28, 2009 – 7:03 pmWe all take offense at things. What people in modern society often don’t realize is that they CHOOSE what “offends” them. The popular victim culture makes it easy for folks to claim offense as if some harm has been done. People today don’t even understand “offense”. A true offense, or offensive action must cause some harm. Tangible, real harm. Not fuzzy nebulous “feeling” harm. People’s right to speech matters more than what others CHOOSE to find offense in. That’s a major component of the victim culture propagated by collectivists of all stripes. I suggest two things for those seeking to be offended. Grow a thicker skin and don’t abdicate your personal power by wasting time taking offense at things that do you NO HARM whatsoever. Get over your self-centeredness and away from seeking constant comfort by impinging the liberties of others. Freedom is even for the stupid and insensitive.

Calling something offensive doesn’t harm your liberties. A label can’t force you to change your behavior. Many choose to wear that label as a badge of honor. For instance, maybe you can promote yourself as the Guy-Who-Prints-Offensive-Letters-Supposedly-Written-By-Jesus? Soon enough I’m sure you’ll have plenty of submissions to fill your blog up with…
