Race Quotas and Stupid Men
December 7, 2009 – 5:44 pmA sportswriter giving kudos for FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision aka Division 1A) schools hiring black coaches (excuse me Americans of unquantified partial African descent) illustrates PC amok media types in his article (page 3).
He says “In the grand scheme of things, 11 out of 120 is still an extremely low percentage (9.2 percent). But these things don’t change overnight, and the fact that the number will more than double in just two hiring cycles is a notable landmark.“
Granted people shouldn’t be denied job opportunities BECAUSE of race or whatever. The author appears to think that some “percentage”, based on race alone, would be correct. That’s pretty damned racist in its own right. How about just the most qualified person be selected for the job? REGARDLESS of race (or other PC victim grouping). Maybe he should check the number of homosexual FBS head coaches for correct percentages.

The “Rooney Rule” seems to work well in the NFL. If a minority is interviewed (no hiring quote) for every coaching vacancy, some will get hired. That should be enough to satisfy reasonable people – and to keep the handling of the issue in private hands.
