Letter to My Congressman, re: Vote ‘No’ on Pelosicare
November 6, 2009 – 7:10 pmDear Congressman: Greetings. I write to urge you strongly to oppose the ‘health care reform’ bill before the House. No one has had adequate time to read and digest nearly 2,000 pages of legislative-ese (I work in government, and I see the polysyllabalic nonsense regularly). Aside from that, I oppose any legislation that does not contain iron-clad guarantees against taxpayer funding of abortion or any service, including purchase of insurance, for illegal aliens. Any bill containing either abortion funding or services for illegal aliens deserves no further consideration, regardless of merit. It should also be cause for automatic rejection if the bill requires Americans to buy insurance (a la ‘Romneycare’ in Massachusetts), or if it imposes penalties for not doing so. There is no Constitutional justification for making Americans answer to their Government for how they insure, or do not insure, themselves or their families. Personally, I will not be bound by any legislation that attempts to compel me to carry insurance, and I would contest the same, in court, on Constitutional grounds, to the limit of my ability to do so, if challenged. In closing, I urge a “Nay” vote on this ill-considered, over-reaching legislation. send it back to committee and see if something more becoming a free people can be crafted. If not, then it is better to do nothing, as the Republic has survived for well over two centuries without a solution to this alleged ‘crisis.’ Yours Respectfully,
