This Emperor’s father invited Gen. MacArthur to call on him shortly after V-E Day. Mac replied that the Emperor could call on HIM> Mac had a photo taken of them together – the Emperor in formal attire, Mac in an open-necked shirt, hands in pockets. Everybody who say it knew who was Boss.
I’m not saying that I expect that, but our Head of State ought to meet other Heads of State on an equal footing. Bows for the Saudi and Japanese monarchs, a dissing for the Queen of England, as for her Prime Minister beforehand. Does anybody see a pattern here?
