Fascinating Brouhaha
August 15, 2009 – 7:06 amOur recent post “Winds of controversy” has created and interesting stir. It leads to some interesting observations. People get in a tizzy over the authorship of a series of books and align themselves with great passion. They passionately disagree with (some might say attack) those of opposing viewpoints. They invest and express great concern over people’s posting handles and are capable of discussing in the finest detail aspects of the books in questions and the forums discussing them. I think this is all just fine by the way. How people choose to invest their time and enjoy themselves is their business.
What amazes thinking people is that while making such a passionate investment of time and thinking, they appear (note the word APPEAR) to have no interest in greater issues. Going so far as to say they don’t care about other issues discussed. They also casually, flippantly dismiss an entire community of discussion with an ignorant appellation. Of course they choose not to (or can’t? or are too lazy?) provide any example in support of the labels they use. Such is typical of collectivist materialist sheople. Gaining their labeling terms from the passing comments of equally ignorant media icons or the background noise of some MSM talking head.
The mis-attributions are funny in the dichotomies they present. Calling a libertarian (note the small l) “authoritarian”, or implying the same is Orwellian. Remember “Newspeak”? It is the collectivist, socialist, “progressive” left that is authoritarian. Ascribing “hate” to people actually believe in freedom for all is equally hilarious. The post’s comment thread is a classic and shining example of some folks’ intellectual laziness, ignorance (feigned or real) and bizarre projection of collectivist traits onto others.
Keep it up!!! We love all contributors, particularly those providing such examples as long as they can adhere to our participation guidelines. The truth is “hate” to those who hate the truth.

I think that this could be a good segue into other topics that have a wider scope such as extremism in America and freedom of speech in the age of the World Wide Web.

Oh, give me a break. Not wanting to discuss “greater issues” here with you lovely people doesn’t mean I’m not interested in them.
“RestlessKnight” has proven himself unable to argue his defense of bad books so NOW he is making an issue of “extremism” and “freedom of speech”. He would limit my freedom of speech so that his hero KJA can freely continue to pillage the literary legacy of Frank Herbert.
Admirable.

Not wanting to I can respect. Based on your previous statements I simply wonder if that reluctance is due to your being afraid to, incapable of doing so or if you simply have an aversion based on close mindedness. We SEEK diverse opinions. Read our participation guidelines. Restless Knight has no power to limit your free speech in any way. As an aside, the protection of speech applies to protecting citizens’ speech from government control or censorship.

You don’t believe in Freedom of Speech, Brian.
You want me to shut up and go away.
And “extremism” in America ?
About Keith’s silly little books ?
Really ?
Have you not noticed the armed militants
showing up @ HealthCare Town Halls, talking
about “Taking Back the Country” ?
But I guess you support that ….
Power to the (White) People !
CPT reply on August 16th, 2009 12:02 am:
Wanting someone to shut up isn’t an infringement of freedom of speech. I haven’t noticed “armed militants” showing up at town halls. I’ve noticed regular Americans petitioning their representatives for redress of grievances.
Have you ever read the U.S. Constitution? Are you racist or just unable to support policy opinions without imputing non-existent racism?

I don’t think I have ever expressed an opinion (yet) on the whole Tea Party thing. I’ll blog about it when I am ready to though.
“Wider Scope” does not mean about the Dune issue. That is only the tip of the iceberg.

Was this piece of trash written by KJHackerson? It makes absolutely no sense at all.
