The Archie Bunker Pick?
May 26, 2009 – 9:23 pm Judge Sotomayor deserves to be judged 9n o pun intended) on her full resume, and not just on random quotes and factiods. Nonetheless, i find it troubling to read things like this: ‘I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male.’ The New York times, the organ of the liberal Establishment, nort Rush Limbaugh, is the source of this quote. The first observation to be made is that the Judge proves herself not wise by claiming to be wise, assuming that she speaks of herself. The second observation is that her comment is unquestionably bigoted. It goes without saying that any white male niminee who said that the richness of his experience would lead more often than not to his reaching better conclusions than a Latina female would be pilloried and his career would end. The statement is indefensible. It is also factually suspect, as I’d pit my life experiences against hers any day, and as much could be said of many highly qualified white male candidates. Antonin Scalia won’t have to lose any sleep about having to duel it out with his putative newest colleague.
A silver lining: Souter was a reliable liberal dullard, and he will not be missed. Sotomayor could hardly be worse, and, as noted above, it does not look like she’ll challenge Justice Scalia for the intellectual leadership of the High Court.
That said, the judge who ruled againse Frank Ricci in the New Haven reverse discrimination lawsuit had better explain herself, because she comes across as Archie Bunker in a skirt, and we don’t need another liberal with more ego than brains in Washington, D.C. Nancy Pelosi is more than enough on that score.

I haven’t seen the context of that comment. If she was speaking about some obscure ethnic specific case, she may have a (incorrect) point that is debatable. If it is general, it displays insensitive stupidity. Soto-mayor isn’t the worst pick Obama could have made. She’s ethnic driven though (see New Haven Firemen Case) it appears. She has a “law and order” history but what is “law” if one relies on feelings rather than statute to rule?
