Who put the Mental in Fundamentalist?

I think that this article on CNN’s web site today illustrates the futility of trying to deal with extremist organizations like the Taliban. It is this kind of mindset that we cannot eradicate through force of arms unless we intend to take it to a genocidal level. The only way groups like the Taliban can be contained is to have their power marginalized though education and some backbone exhibited by the Pakistani government and by mainstream Islamic clerics, who can repudiate the warped religious views of the Taliban, and as a group use one voice to shout them down. Western countries need to be very careful in how far we go to accommodate the mix of cultures and there wants. Already England has succumbed to Sharia law as seen here. We need to send a POWERFULL message to our government that this is taking the “Melting Pot” here too far, and we need to use our influence to help other western countries realize that they are opening the door to having Talibans in their own borders.
