I almost hate to say this (well nearly almost?) but Limbaugh IS and "entertainer". He has stated so clearly and repeatedly over the years and in both of his books. Emphatically on his "Rush to Excellence tour", on his TV show and in numerous other times and places.

His format for entertainment is espousing Conservative ideals which he strongly believes in and showing up the hypocrisies of liberals and demoncrats.

The Fact remains that he IS a radidio ENTERTAINER. It is his stock in trade which he has built into enormous success which illustrates his great points on self-sufficiency and hard work in free enterprise being the path that is most logical and successful.

His whole shtick is about entertainment value. To make him out to be something other than that is just a mistake. If you asked him personally, I'd bet he'd validate my entire statement. Being an entertainer doesn't invalidate his world view or political opinions but its pointless to make him out to be something other than what he is by his own repeated statements.

“My intent was not to go after Rush – I have enormous respect for Rush Limbaugh,” Steele said in a telephone interview. “I was maybe a little bit inarticulate. … There was no attempt on my part to diminish his voice or his leadership.”

Frankly, I'm not buying it. Steele knows he's in "deep doodoo" on this one.

I have to say that the people who are organizing the Tea Party revolts want little to do with the GOP: They are part of the problem. That Steele could dismiss as "Ugly" the speech that Rush gave highlights with the RNC is not getting donations or support from grassroots efforts. I suspect Steele will have a retraction and clarification later.
