Race Relation News: Detroit Council Shocks Citizens
March 5, 2009 – 1:01 pmDear Friends: I just came across this, and am enraged. It is exactly this attitude that has corroded the prosperity of the Metro-Detroit area, where I spent many of my formative years.
My hopes for Detroit’s future faded as I watched the tape of last Tuesday’s council meeting, the one that considered the Cobo Center expansion deal.
It was a tragic circus, a festival of ignorance that confirmed the No. 1 obstacle to Detroit’s progress is the bargain basement leaders that city voters elect.The black nationalism that is now the dominant ideology of the council was on proud display, both at the table and in the audience.
Speakers advocating for the deal were taunted by the crowd and cut short by Council President Monica Conyers (wife of Congressman John Conyers), who presided over the hearing like an angry bulldog; whites were advised by the citizens to, “Go home.”
Opponents were allowed to rant and ramble on uninterrupted about “those people” who want to steal Detroit’s assets and profit from the city’s labors.
A pitiful Teamster official who practically crawled to the table on his knees expressing profuse respect for this disrespectful body was battered by both the crowd and the council.
When he dared suggest that an improved Cobo Center would create more good-paying jobs for union workers, Conyers reminded him, “Those workers look like you; they don’t look like me.”
Desperate, he invoked President Barack Obama’s message of unity and was angrily warned, “Don’t yousay his name here.”
Such healing! Such tolerance! It makes me want to run right out and buy one of those houses in Detroit worth $7500. This hateful attitude is the direct result of demonizing hard-working, economically-responsible Americans of all races.

And to whom will they turn when they inevitably bankrupt the city. A brilliant illustration of ignorance risen to power.
There is an incredibly stupid funny movie called “Idiocracy” that seems to be taking place in Detroit today. Other places too, but Detroit seems to be a Mecca for idiocy.
No seems to view Ms. Conyers as racist either…hmmmm.

It gets worse…Barbara rose Collins leading 40 residents in, “Onward, Christian Soldiers” after holding an illegal ‘special session’ to override the Mayor’s veto of their interference with the Cobo deal brokered by the Democrat in the Governor’s mansion, among others.
(BTW, City Council President Monica Conyers, she of the personal security detail, cop-chauffeur for her kids’ suburban school rides, and the violent confrontation at the Democratic national convention, called the Mayor ‘Shrek’ at a previous meeting, when he still served on Council.)
Now, I ask you, why is Collins caterwauling in public when Motown’s Martha Reeves is also on Council? Reeves is otherwise useless; if someone has to carry a tune, please let it be her!
Conyers stands to be indicted shortly, as do others, perhaps including ex-Mayor Kilpatrick’s father, in the Syrango sludge-hauling deal. The city is broke, in ruins, dealing with 62 unions (that’s not a misprint – 62!), rising crime, a collapsed economy in a state with 11.6% unemployment, GM and Chrysler about to disappear, and they have time fir this?!
Oh, and by the way, the schools are under State control, because they’re broke, too. No time to spare for that, though perhaps Babs Collins can volunteer to be teach choir…
