Oath Violation?
March 24, 2009 – 6:10 amAre the President of the United States, most Congress-critters and cabinet members violating their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States?
Seeking “expanded power to sieze” private companies would make it seem so.
Where exactly are such powers enumerated in the Constitution?
Tell us. We DARE you.

One Response to “Oath Violation?”
In Congress, all members take the same oath of office when they begin a new term. The Vice President usually administers the oath to senators, and the Speaker of the House administers the oath to representatives:
I, [member's name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.
The Constitution (Article 2, Section 1) provides that before assuming office the President must take the following oath or affirmation: “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will, to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

Bush on the Constitution:
“It’s just a goddamned piece of paper”
by Doug Thompson
Dec 9th, 2005,
Last month, Republican Congressional leaders filed into the Oval Office to meet with President George W. Bush and talk about renewing the controversial USA Patriot Act.
Several provisions of the act, passed in the shell shocked period immediately following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, caused enough anger that liberal groups like the American Civil Liberties Union had joined forces with prominent conservatives like Phyllis Schlafly and Bob Barr to oppose renewal.
GOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions of the act could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.
I don’t give a goddamn,” Bush retorted. “I’m the President and the Commander-
in-Chief. Do it my way.”
“Mr. President,” one aide in the meeting said. “There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution.”
“Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,” Bush screamed back. “It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”
I’ve talked to three people present for the meeting that day and they all confirm that the President of the United States called the Constitution “a goddamned piece of paper….”
….Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, while still White House counsel, wrote that the “Constitution is an outdated document.”
Put aside, for a moment, political affiliation or personal beliefs. It doesn’t matter if you are a Democrat, Republican or Independent. It doesn’t matter if you support the invasion or Iraq or not. Despite our differences, the Constitution has stood for two centuries as the defining document of our government, the final source to determine – in the end – if something is legal or right.

Note: Bush total disregarded the intent and purpose of the constitution when
he approved the USA Patriot Act. The moment he made the statement
“It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!” He totally violating his Oath of
Office pertaining to the constitution. Therefore, the USA Patriot
Act Which he approved is nothing less than a deliberate attempt by
Him to circumvent (undermine) the Constitution, which would make his
decision to approve the governmental Act null and Void.
“The Constitution is controlling, as the “supreme Law of the Land.” Article VI makes it supreme over all laws (legislative Acts)–as well as over treaties, as we have seen–and requires all judges and other officials, Federal and State, to be “bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution.” It automatically makes null and void all governmental Acts (laws), decisions, orders, pronouncements, and actions in conflict with it–null and void from the time each one may occur.”
