Letter to Eric Holder on “A Nation of Cowards”
February 20, 2009 – 6:02 pmAskDOJ@usdoj.gov
Dear Mr. Holder:
We are not a nation of cowards. It is clear that your offensive and distorted remarks are aimed at white people. White people are not cowards on the subject of race: We’re simply tired of having all ‘conversations’ on race begin with a demand for guilt on our part, as if we owned slaves or have perpetuated injustice ourselves. I don’t do blood guilt, and therefore I do not participate in such ‘conversations.’ (And I never hear anyone so speaking say a kind word for the half-million Yankee boys who stopped Confederate lead to end slavery, either.)
Instead of rhetoric about ‘coming to grips with our racial past,’ as if we never hear about slavery or Jim Crow, perhaps you should meditate on how fortunate you are to be rich, a product of elite schools, and free to speak your mind, even when you offend and distort, in this country. This country has been so generous to you that you have been elevated, in spite of your role in the Mark Rich pardon, to the cabinet of a President whose rhetoric was notable during the campaign for its’ lack of rancor. You should follow your President’s example, or resign if you can’t, as your words impair your ability to be seen as a doer of impartial justice.
Respectfully,
-Lloyd A. Conway

Well said. Strange how the race pimps love to mention Dr. King yet seem to never apply his “content of character” dream.
