We Don’t Have To Ask – He Told Us!

The link above is to a story quoting President-Elect Obama’s Press Secretary as explicitly stating that the gays-in-the-military “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy will be repealed.  His one-word reply to a questioner:  “Yes.”  The Culture Wars are officially back, thanks to this ill-considered and ham-fisted announcement.  We’re already short troops, and we are suffering (USMC excepted) from integrated basic training, which has turned the Armed Forces (except for the Marines) into a dating service.  My daughter’s description of post-basic training life at Ft. Huachuka, while in Intel school, is even more frightening:  “Marriage means nothing here.”  Frat party central – six years after 9/11.  Now, we’ll add open homosexuality to the mix, so that you can wonder who’ll get the suicide mission – you, or the Commander’s bitch.  Thanks, Barak.  (If Obama really was a Muslim, things might actually be better.  His Madrassa schoolmates in Indonesia must be snickering, if they’ve read about this.)
A modest prediction:  The draft will come, and this policy will b e the last straw for the all-volunteer force.  It will drive out enough over-deployed troops to make it necessary.  and they’ll come for your daughters this time, too.
