“The Council of the West”
January 10, 2009 – 11:55 amWe cannot count on our government to tell us the truth, to protect us, or to advance our national interest. Indeed, it is obvious that many of our rulers are philosophically internationalist, secularist, and embarrassed by the Christian roots of America, as they are of the West in general. It is incumbent on the remnant who still believe in the faith of our fathers to connect with each other, to maintain a dialogue on what each of us can do, to share information, and to be prepared for whatever comes.
Nationally syndicated columnist James Pinkerton wrote in 2007 in The American Conservative ( www.amconmag.org ) about just this. His cover story, The Once and Future Christendom, explored how orthodox Christians might work together to save Western civilization. Other forums exist, but his proposal was to start a Facebook group whose members could engage in just such exchanges as are outlined above.
