“I Knew Her Before She Was a Virgin”

The quote above was attributed to a Hollywood mogul, who was commenting on an actress with a wholesome reputation of decidedly recent origin.  Uncle Sam has rediscovered his virginity, where intervention in the marketplace is concerned.  Bailouts totaling $2.7 trillion, yes, trillion dollars have been doled out, without any oversight, sacrifice, or accountability, to the banks and insurance companies.  But, lo and behold, when GM asks for $15 billion in loans, they get the gate.  The UAW gets the blame, because our $30.00/hr. autoworkers are overpaid, compared to Toyota’s $28.00/hr. employees.  (The $75.00/hr. figure bandied about by Rush & Co. is inaccurate; it includes retiree costs, and GM supports 1,000,000 retirees.  Toyota, USA does not.)  so, I ask, when did our sweet Senate whores, who told Freddie and Fannie to give mortgages to illegal aliens, the unemployed, etc., become virgins?
I don’t, in principle, support bailouts.  GM and the UAW made plenty of mistakes, and UAW President Ron Gettlefinger can anger me as quickly as can any public figure in America.  The “Jobs Bank” is a joke.  But… why do hedge-fund execs rate giveaways, complete with bonuses for running their compan ies into the ground, when the Big Three CEOs et grilled about corporate jets, told to work for a dollar a year, and the UAW told to negotiate itself out of existence, and then they can’t even get loans?  I resent paying taxes to support Wall Street sham artists, Senators who think that they’re Santa Claus, and then I, as a Michigander, get dissed when our guys ask for help.  Help all, with the same strings attached, or, better yet, help none. 
They best help Washington could give the Big Three would be to dump CAFE, stop signing managed trade agreements that are misnamed “free trade,” and that are legacies of Cold War-era bribery designed to get our ‘allies’ to let us defend them, and, in general, quit acting like they know how to run a business.  The de facto bankrupt state of our government should make these hypocrites blush with shame, like the newly-minted virgins that they pretend to be.
