Who should I vote for – One reader’s contribution
October 28, 2008 – 11:43 amFrom one of our readers…
==================
Dear friends,
I don’t tend to send out mass emails, but due to the upcoming election and the far reaching implications of the next 4 years I have decided that now is the time, hopefully it isn’t too late. At this point you may be an Obama supporter and you may be a McCain supporter.
Right now is the time to find out what each of them is for or against. One could vote solely on one issue and that is life. Obama has said “how can anyone be pro-abortion?” Yet he is the most liberal when it comes to voting for the protection of abortions and Roe v. Wade. He wants your daughters and grand-daughters to be able to go across state lines to have an abortion and not tell you. He wants to withhold care from a child who is born alive from a botched abortion. He has a 100% rating from NARAL for the last three years (2005, 2006, 2007 cited from http://www.prochoiceamerica.org/elections/statements/obama.html ). Obama is “pro-abortion” in fact he’s the most extreme pro-abortion member of the US Senate. For more information on how radical he is you need to read two articles.
Obama and infanticide
http://www.thepublicdiscourse.com/viewarticle.php?selectedarticle=2008.10.16_George_Robert_Obama%20and%20Infanticide_.xml
A short excerpt:
“As [Obama's] original 2002 statements make clear, he sought to defeat the Born-Alive Act because he recognized that it bears at least implicitly on the larger question of abortion in America. He seemed to realize that the logical implication of protecting the child born alive after an attempted abortion is that abortion involves taking the life of a child in the womb, and that acknowledging that, even at the extreme margins of the practice of abortion, could put the legitimacy of abortion itself in question. Therefore, Obama chose to defend the widest possible scope for legal abortion by building a fence around it, even if that meant permitting a child who survives an abortion to be left to die without even being afforded basic comfort care. ”
Obama’s abortion extremism
http://www.thepublicdiscourse.com/viewarticle.php?selectedarticle=2008.10.14_George_Robert_Obama%27s%20Abortion%20Extremism_.xml
A short excerpt:
“He has promised that “the first thing I’d do as President is sign the Freedom of Choice Act” (known as FOCA). This proposed legislation would create a federally guaranteed “fundamental right” to abortion through all nine months of pregnancy, including, as Cardinal Justin Rigali of Philadelphia has noted in a statement condemning the proposed Act, “a right to abort a fully developed child in the final weeks for undefined ‘health’ reasons.” In essence, FOCA would abolish virtually every existing state and federal limitation on abortion, including parental consent and notification laws for minors, state and federal funding restrictions on abortion, and conscience protections for pro-life citizens working in the health-care industry-protections against being forced to participate in the practice of abortion or else lose their jobs. The pro-abortion National Organization for Women has proclaimed with approval that FOCA would “sweep away hundreds of anti-abortion laws [and] policies.” ”
There are other issues that concern me about him.
1. Obama plays the “Black” card when he’s really mostly Arab-African. I believe his great-great-grandmother was African which would make him 1/16th black. My concern is that he could be the first Arab in the presidency. Even Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. didn’t want a person to be solely elected on the color of their skin, his dream was that people would be judged on their character and that leads me to my next point. See below for more about him being mostly Arab (point #6).
2. Obama states that his attendance at Rev. Wright’s church is inconsequential to who he is and what he believes. How can a person attend a church where anti-American rhetoric and anti-white bigotry was regularly preached and it not be a problem with the Obamas until Barack runs for President and the media catches wind of it. Even a left-leaning media can’t hide the fact that Rev. Wright is so far off base it’s not funny. He’s the leader of the black equivalent of the KKK. He makes Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson look like choir boys. His friendship with others, like Ayers, and Rezko are friendships of convenience. Once they’ve outlived their convenience he dumps them like a sack of dirty diapers.
3. Obama’s economics, if you can call them that, have been tried and have failed. Let’s look at the former USSR. They tried this income/wealth redistribution and look where it got them. They’re probably close to 50 years behind the USA in a whole lot of areas ( industry, inventions, economy, farming, job growth, schools and more ). Is that were we want to take America? He claims to be giving 95% of people a tax break. Currently more than 30% of Americans don’t pay taxes right now and the wealthiest 1% pays about 20% of the whole amount of taxes paid. Good, bad or indifferent, that is the way it is. Barack’s plan then will start by letting the Bush tax breaks expire (this will increase taxes for 100% of Americans, so how is this giving me a tax break? ). Then he wants to increase capitol gains taxes (if you buy a house and it goes up in value Barack wants a chunk of it), and to re-enact the death tax, and increase the gas tax (this one will really kick you in the teeth, more on that later), and increase the taxes on companies ( he says $250,000 and up, but that could change if he doesn’t get enough money to socialize medicine, and make big government even bigger). There are several issues other than the basic fact that this is a Marxist idea. “From each according to his abilities to each according to his needs.” –Karl Marx’s slogan. Consider his push to raise the gas tax. He says that it is necessary to break our dependence on using oil. Sounds good, but remember the last 6-8 months where gas was going through the roof. I’m not sure about you, but all of my bills increased. Food went up (it takes gas to plant it, harvest it, move it from here to there), clothes went up ( again, it takes gas to transport it from the factories to the stores), utility bills went up, even the trash pickup went up (they have a fuel surcharge to offset driving the garbage trucks around and picking up after you). So, if Barack takes your current tax breaks away then increases taxes on gas so that all of your basic staple items go up in price (we call that inflation) then what good has he done? Big government has their hand in every nook and cranny of your life. That’s an economic plan that will start us down the wrong road.
4. Obama says he’ll meet with terrorists without pre-conditions. Even the terrorists he’s planning on meeting with will demand some preconditions. Which one of them is smarter, Obama or those he plans to meet with.
5. Obama claims to have never been a Muslim. Why? Does he fear the backlash that it may cause in the USA, or the backlash it would cause in the middle east? I believe it is a combination. First of all, what is his name? Barack Hussein Obama. Sound American? How about British? Maybe Arab? Bam, you nailed it. As Islamic law applied here, if he was the son of a Muslim, he is a Muslim. Let me quote a blogger ( Debbie Schlussel ). “So, even if he identifies strongly as a Christian, and even if he despised the behavior of his father (as Obama said on Oprah); is a man who Muslims think is a Muslim, who feels some sort of psycological need to prove himself to his absent Muslim father, and who is now moving in the direction of his father’s heritage, a man we want as President when we are fighting the war of our lives against Islam? Where will his loyalties be?”
6. Thanks Joe (Biden, not “the plumber”) for this one. Joe claims that Obama will be tested in his first 90 days of office to see his metal, and that we will need to help him (Obama), and that we won’t like his response. Will it be parking some nuclear weapons in Cuba again, will it be an all out attack on Israel that he will ignore? Lets not find out what he will do, or what he won’t do.
I could go into more about the concerns that I have about Obama being our next President, but I will leave you to do some homework on that. It seems to me that he has a lot of bad experiences and viewpoints to be the “change” we’re looking for since really change only for the sake of change is not what we are looking for. I’ll be the first to say that Bush wasn’t a perfect President, but some of his changes were good (like his tax cuts). I believe that Obama is too radical of a change for America. We’re not ready for Socialism, we’re not ready for recession, we’re not ready for a North American Currency, we’re not ready to stop being an ally to Israel, we’re not ready for abortion to skyrocket, we’re not ready for gas to go to $7/gallon, we’re not ready for an Arab in the White House, we’re not ready for Obama to be President.

I too am critical of some of John McCain’s policies and his past decisions, but his are like taking candy from a baby compared to the above.
Thank you all for listening,
